The Monsoon Ride 2009
The Monsoon Ride rose out of nowhere, it was created to keep an announcement made by Western Motorsports and send a message across to everybody,we mean what we say and we do what we say. We were hell bound to make it a success as we wanted to state we are here to stay.
The Monsoon Ride got JK Tyre as the main sponsor and the event was aptly supported by them despite being a new organization and a new event, we thank them for being with us believing in us in our capabilities and supporting us for The Monsoon Ride 2010also. In the little time we had, we got BIG TV and Club Mahindra who came forward and helped us by providing us with some gifts for the winners of JK Tyre The Monsoon Ride ’09.
JK Tyre The Monsoon Ride ’09 was very well accepted from all and received good number of entries, the event had hard core rallyists as well as novices coming for the first time and even winning which encourages them as well others to again participate in such events. We had 52 entries in all for four wheelers and two wheelers, out of which 50 took start and 48 finished the rally.
The rally was conducted in two legs clocking 180 kms in total. Leg 1 started from picturesque Jal Mahal upto Bhangarh crossing the majestic Amber Fort. Leg 1 had 8 kms gravel track which was running parallel to the reserve forest area and a BIG CAT rescue center. To promote the heritage the rally was taken to Bhangarh and the schedule was framed as such that people can visit the “Haunted Fortified Town”. It has done wonders in aspect of footfall at Bhangarh.
Leg 2 starting from Bhangarh heading Jaipur had just 2 kms of gravel but the highlight of the rally were the “Jalebi loops”. A candy TC point was placed for the grabs and check are the competitors following the basics of rallying specially TSD rallying; i.e. reading the Tulips and to our joy almost all the participants grabbed the candy which resulted in heavy penalties for them. As the participants went wrong here it became like a maze and kept going round and round and kept collecting penalties.
The rally finished at Pink City restaurant, Jaipur. The results were out by 5 pm much ahead of the schedule and with perfection, no protests were lodged against the result. The Prize distribution ceremony started at 8pm followed with dinner and performance by Rajasthani folk artists.
